Article: Why Are We Still Putting Up with the Jumpsuit Struggle?

Why Are We Still Putting Up with the Jumpsuit Struggle?

Why Are We Still Putting Up with the Jumpsuit Struggle?

I’ll say it: jumpsuits are one of the most effortlessly stylish pieces you can wear. Slip one on and suddenly you’ve got a whole look—no mixing and matching, no second-guessing. But there’s something we don’t talk about nearly enough. That moment of panic when you’re in a public bathroom, in a rush, and suddenly realize you have to get fully undressed just to pee.

We laugh about it. We whisper to friends, “Hold my door,” or joke, “Why did I wear a jumpsuit today?” But when did we decide that looking good meant sacrificing comfort and convenience?

Women are creative. We find ways to deal with things that aren’t made with us in mind. But maybe it’s time to ask: Why aren’t they made with us in mind? Why are jumpsuits still designed like it’s 1973 and we don’t have places to be or kids to chase or meetings to run to?

It’s not just about fashion. It’s about the message we send when we accept that form has to come at the cost of function. That we should settle. That the inconvenience is “worth it.” But what if it’s not? What if that tradeoff doesn’t have to exist?

The reality is, most women don’t even know there’s an alternative. Because no one talks about it. “Bathroom-friendly jumpsuits” isn’t even a thing we Google—because we assume it’s a fantasy.

At Voncelle, we’ve been thinking about this a lot. Not to sell you something—but because we think women deserve better. And it starts with asking the question out loud: Why are we still putting up with it?

Because when you start to question something seemingly small, you realize just how much you’ve been tolerating for the sake of fashion. And maybe it’s time to stop.
